Correspondence

Jane has been contacted by Roni Thayler in regard to the SHP Annual Report which is due by January 28th.  Mary Tobin volunteered to write draft and send out for review.

26 Oak Hill Drive

Greg Meister will have wetlands flagged by the end of the week.  Peter O’Cain has volunteered to do the survey but needs a registered surveyor to sign off. The group discussed the work needed to complete the survey and how perc tests/ soil evaluations would be accomplished.  For the Winslow Road property Alan Waterstein donated his time and equipment as an excavator.

Mr. Gray commented that the 26 acre parcel is presently used by neighbors for recreation and that he was attending the meeting to learn more about what was proposed for this site. The SHP informed Mr. Gray that he and all interested neighbors are welcome to attend all meetings and that he will be kept informed by e-mail as we go forward.

He was also informed that everything is in a most preliminary status and that if this site was determined to be suitable for development the SHP is presently considering only as of right single family development.  The steps going forward were to: complete perc tests and survey, go before the selectmen, apply to the CPC for funds for a feasibility study, send out RFP for feasibility study, perform feasibility study, and prepare an RFP for developers.  Jane will locate the RFP that was sent out for the Winslow Road feasibility study and distribute to the group. With a few name changes this document will likely be very similar to what is used for the Oak Hill site.

Sacred Heart Site

Only one proposal was received for development of this site from a group calling itself “A Miracle in Sharon”. This proposal concerns the development of 50-75 units of housing for developmentally disabled adults. B’nai Brith submitted a letter of interest but may have been initially dissuaded by the language in the RFP which did not list housing as a primary objective. Jane reported that she has spoken to Susan Gittleman of B’nai Brith about working with the “Miracle in Sharon” (MIS) group. The MIS group apparently does not have any money to go forward and perhaps by partnering with B’nai Brith a successful project can be accomplished.

105 Beach Street

The possibility of purchasing this home as an affordable was discussed.  The group agreed that due to the poor condition of the house, the small lot and the fact that it is only a 2 bedroom, it wasn’t of interest for this purpose.

Meeting Adjourned at approximately 9:00 PM.
